Boston Celtics vs. Orlando Magic: Preseason live stream, lineups, injury reports and broadcast info (10/4)

The Boston Celtics 2021-22 NBA season kicks off in earnest on Monday, October 4 as the Celtics host the Orlando Magic for their first official preseason game of four, and if you happen to be looking for a way to watch or stream the game online or on cable television, keep reading while we get you up to speed.

While the contest may ultimately not mean very much in terms of the outcomes or what we can expect from both ball club’s seasons, we will be able to learn something about how both teams may approach some lingering roster-building concerns and rotation questions.

It will also be the debut of new head coach Ime Udoka and his coaching staff save veteran assistant Joe Mazzulla.

Injuries of note

With it being the start of the season, we do not expect any Celtics to miss preseason play due to injury, though likely starters and players in heavy rotation may not play much early on in preseason play to avoid injury.

Both Jaylen Brown (wrist) and Juwan Morgan (hamstring) might be limited after reports of recent discomfort respectively, but given the exhibition nature of the contest, it should not matter much.

Likely starting lineups

The first game of the preseason’s starters may tell a story about who is going start in the regular season, who is fighting to make the team, or tell you next to nothing of value given the personal philosophy of the coach.

Given we know next to nothing about Udoka in this regard, we expect a test of big men Al Horford and Robert Williams III at the four and five respectively with Brown, Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart likely joining him.

For the Magic, it’s nearly as hard to divine, but for now we expect to see at least recent draftee Jalen Suggs to be on the court at tip-off, and likely big man Wendell Carter Jr. and veteran wing Terrence Ross as well.
