Bo Nix plummets in Heisman Poll after UW loss despite impressive stats

One of the ugly truths about the world of college football is that in reality, a large portion of people only care about what you’re doing if your team is being viewed in a good light, with a chance to win the national championship.

That’s not something that can currently be said about the Oregon Ducks following their loss to the Washington Huskies, With Oregon no longer possessing a realistic chance to make it to the College Football Playoff, it has virtually knocked quarterback Bo Nix out of the Heisman Trophy race.

If you look at his statistics against the Huskies, his drop in the Heisman poll standings is unjustifiable, but if you consider the narrative surrounding the award, it all makes sense.

In last week’s poll, Nix was the No. 1 player in the rankings. Take a look at where he stands according to USA TODAY voters in this week’s Heisman poll:
