Bo Nix is in elite company when it comes to stats through 8 games

Anyone who has watched quarterback Bo Nix and the Oregon Ducks this year knows that what the Auburn transfer is doing in Eugene is pretty special.

Through 8 games, Nix has Oregon’s offense humming at rates that Duck fans haven’t seen since the Chip Kelly days, and has the team among the top teams in the nation, contending for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Nix is even growing his case as a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate.

puke I said, it’s been a special stretch of games for Nix. How special, though? When you compare the stats for Oregon’s QB to other players who have had similar numbers over the years, you’ll understand that he’s producing at an elite clip.

Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, and Jalen Hurts? Those aren’t names that I ever considered including in a sentence with Bo Nix, I have to admit. It shows that what we’ve seen from the Oregon QB isn’t just enthralling for a Duck fan, but has a legitimate place in history. If you compare his numbers at this point in the season to Marcus Mariota in his Heisman year, it further drives home the point.

This is not me saying that Nix is going to go on and win the Heisman, or even have a quarter of the success that guys like Mahomes, Jackson, or Hurts have found in the NFL. It does give us some good context for what we’re watching in Eugene from No. 10, though.

The Ducks will go where Nix goes this season. So far, he’s taking them to pretty impressive places.
