EASTERN GREENE 48, BRIDGEPORT (ILL.) RED HILL 14: James Lewis ran for 122 yards and five touchdowns and Jonas Hawk threw for 220 yards as the T-Birds (4-3) crossed the border and picked up a win. Volleyball

EDGEWOOD JOYCE GATES INVITATIONAL: Edgewood (21-6) opened with wins over Clay City 25-17, 25-17 and Scottsburg 25-17, 25-18 before falling to Terre Haute North (18-9), . Eastern Greene (10-18) split in pool play, falling to TH North 2-0 and beating Mooresville 25-23, 30-28 and then having to work extra again to beat Scottsburg for third, 29-27, 25-27, 15-9.

WARRICK INVITATIONAL: Bloomington North (18-7) went 2-1, opening with an early-morning loss to host 4A No. 4 Castle (26-3), 25-12, 25-21, then came back to thump winless Evansville Bosse 25-3, 25-6 and Evansville Central (6-14), 25-9, 25-15. No. 25 Terre Haute South ended up winning the title, upsetting the Knights, 25-21, 25-19.

Friday, Sept. 29

Football

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 42, COLUMBUS EAST 0: The Cougars (7-0) lived up to their No. 1 ranking in Class 5A but the it may have come at a big cost as defensive end and likely Division I recruit Grey Hostetler was badly hurt during the game.

SULLIVAN 28, EDGEWOOD 7: Grant Coffey was slated to return at QB, but the Mustang offense couldn't find the end zone more than once against the Arrows (4-3). Sullivan led just 14-0 and went up 21-7 after three and held on.

CASCADE 40, OWEN VALLEY 19: The Cadets (5-2) had no problems, darting out to a 40-0 lead at halftime.

Thursday, Sept. 28

Boys' soccer

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 1, JASPER 1: Etienne Leykin had the goal as the Panthers finished the regular season with a tie and a 12-1-1 record. Match stats at MaxPreps.

EDGEWOOD 5, OWEN VALLEY 0: The Mustangs (13-6) beat their rivals for a third time this season to advance to the semifinals on Thursday against Bloomington South at 5 p.m. Bloomington North and Brown County will meet in the other semi at the same time.

Boys' soccer

EDGEWOOD 3, WEST VIGO 3 (Edgewood wins on PKs, 4-3): West Vigo scored twice in the second half to tie it but Mustangs (7-6-1, 5-3) recover as Matt Rees knocks home the winner and Roman Wagner seals the victory with the save.

Girls' soccer

EDGEWOOD 1, WEST VIGO 0: Emma Edwards' first-half goal, her 25th of the season, holds up in the WIC win for the Mustangs (9-6, 6-2). Match stats at MaxPreps.

EDGEWOOD 3, CLOVERDALE 0: Mustangs (19-4, 6-2 WIC) have no problems getting past still winless Clovers, 25-10, 25-6, 25-14.

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 3, OWEN VALLEY 0: Cougars claim a 25-17, 25-22, 25-16 as Claire Hodson had a monster night with 15 kills, hitting .560, and adding seven aces. Match stats at MaxPreps.

COLUMBUS EAST 3, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 2: Panthers (9-15) get off to good start but Olympians (7-17) rally for a stunning 19-25, 15-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-13 win. Ana Crowley led South with 18 kills. Match stats at MaxPreps.

SHOALS 3, LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN 0: Lions (14-8) fall at home, 25-16, 25-14, 25-18
