Clemson moves to No. 3 in AP poll

After Utah's loss to USC Saturday night there was going to be a new team at No. 3 in the Week 8 AP poll. And it's a team that wasn't in the top five a week ago.

Clemson ascended three spots to No. 3 after its 58-0 blowout win over Miami. The Tigers leapfrogged TCU (off in Week 7) and LSU (beat Western Kentucky). Utah fell all the way to No. 13, behind undefeated teams Iowa (No. 10) and Oklahoma State (No. 12). Florida State, which lost on a last-second blocked field goal to Georgia Tech, dropped to No. 17.

TCU and LSU swapped spots. The Tigers were No. 5 last week and moved up to No. 4. The top two teams in the AP poll, Ohio State and Baylor, were unchanged. Baylor, which beat Iowa State on Saturday, lost quarterback Seth Russell for an undetermined amount of time. Russell, who was hurt in the fourth quarter, suffered a fractured vertebra in his neck.

UCLA and Mississippi State were the two newcomers to the AP poll. The Bruins, who beat Cal on Thursday, are at No. 24 and MSU moved to No. 25 after beating Kentucky. Here's how the top 25 looks
