AEK Athens fans invade pitch to have a flare fight with opposing supporters

When we last saw AEK Athens supporters, they helped ensure their club's relegation from the Greek first division last season by chasing all the players off the pitch after one of their own scored an own goal. Now in the third division due to a combination of poor performance and financial issues, AEK fans have apparently turned their violent rage to opposing supporters.

Prior to AEK's match at Egaleo, the visiting crowd stormed the pitch to launch an attack on the home fans at the opposing end. The result was a battle of flares and flying seats that caught the riot police off guard. Once they finally showed up and restored order, the match went on as scheduled, albeit a little delayed.

AEK went on to win 2-1, though the match was briefly halted in the 87th minute by further trouble with the ultras.
