Bills vs. Washington Football Team: 3 keys to a Buffalo win

We’re now only hours away from the Buffalo Bills facing the Washington Football Team in their Week 3 showdown. Now that we’ve gone through all the practices, breakdowns and analyzing this week, let’s get down to the basics.

Here are three keys to the game for the Bills against Washington to ensure Buffalo wins:

Protect Josh Allen

Its been said all week at a nauseating amount that Washington's defense poses a problem for the Bills... but it's true. The Football Team's defensive front, led by pass rushers Chase Young and Montez Sweat, are probably going to get their looks at Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Hopefully Buffalo's offensive line can give Allen just enough time and plays to beat Washington. It's up to offensive tackles Dion Dawkins and Daryl Williams to minimize that pair on Washington players.

Lockdown Scary Terry

In his lone game against the Bills, Washington wide receiver Terry McLaurin was held to four catches and 39 yards back in 2019. But last week while backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke was throwing the ball, McLaurin had 11 catches for 107 yards and a touchdown. The Bills defense should be focused on shutting McLaurin down in Week 3, which then puts the pressure on the inexperienced quarterback. He has other weapons, but Heinicke will be responsible for beating the Bills, not McLaurin, if the wideout is taken out of the game. Paging, Tre'Davious White.

To Buffalo's coaching staff: Keep things simple. Sure, Allen hasn't played his best this season, but offensively, the Bills should not be dialing up crazy plays to beat Washington. Instead, offensive coordinator Brian Daboll should forget the deep ball and let the intermediate passes, Allen's bread and butter, take center stage. As referenced, Heinicke is not some longtime QB in the NFL. The Bills won't overlook him, but they also shouldn't overthink this one. Keep it simple and Heinicke should make mistakes, regardless. Leslie Frazier called a good game last week and the defensive coordinator should do so again in Week 3.
