Bills vs. Jets: Team connections

The Buffalo Bills will host the New York Jets for a Week 11 matchup on Sunday at 4:35 p.m.

It’s a brand new NFL weekend with plenty on the line for both teams. But for some on the Bills (5-5) and Jets (4-5) there is a bit more on the line than some others.

That’s because some players and coaches for both teams could be playing against their former teams. That can create a little bit of extra motivation for them heading into Sunday.

With that, here’s Here’s a quick list of connections the two teams have with one another ahead of the upcoming matchup at Highmark Stadium:

Bills RB Ty Johnson

Johnson’s most-recent team was the Jets. He was released with a non-football injury designation in April and then signed with the Bills in August. Buffalo added him to their practice squad at the end of training camp and he’s currently serving as a returner and depth running back.

Lawson was a first-round pick of the Bills in 2016 but has done a bit of an AFC East circle. He’s played for the Miami Dolphins and like Johnson, his last team was the Jets–But he wasn’t happy with them after he was released in 2021 prior to their season finale… which was against the Bills.

Jefferson spent one season with the Bills in 2020. He recorded three sacks in the team’s defensive line rotation. In nine games this season, Jefferson has 4.5 sacks.

Hackett got his NFL start with the Bills as their offensive coordinator in 2013. He spent two seasons in Buffalo working under then-head coach Doug Marrone before he departed the team when Marrone did.

Dalvin Cook has not played for the Bills… but he’s James Cook’s brother. Cook signed there after a lengthy period as a free agent but currently he’s not happy with his minimal role.
