Bills release four players after preseason win vs. Colts

The Buffalo Bills wasted little time after their preseason win against the Indianapolis Colts. One day later, the team announced that four players had been trimmed from their roster.

The Bills released the following:

  • TE Jalen Wydermayer

  • CB Olajiah Griffin

  • OL Jordan Simmons

  • OL Derek Kerstetter

By Wednesday, NFL teams are required to be at 85 players. In releasing the above four, Buffalo sits at 84 which excludes CB Tre’Davious White (knee) and OL Ike Boettger (Achilles). Both are on the team’s PUP list.

Kerstetter and Wydermayer were both undrafted rookie free agent signees by Buffalo following the 2022 NFL draft. Wydermayer only played in six snaps against the Colts while Kerstetter saw 41 percent but he had an uphill climb in a large offensive line room in Buffalo.

Griffin spent last season on the Bills practice squad. He played in 51 percent of snaps against Indy.

Simmons saw time in 55 percent of snaps against the Colts and also has NFL experienced with 25 games played. When a rash of injuries hit the Bills O-line during training camp, Simmons was signed on July 25.

The Bills’ next roster cuts down to 80 are slated for Aug. 23. By Aug. 30, NFL teams will have to trim down to their final 53-man rosters.
