Bills lead Washington 27-14 at halftime
The Buffalo Bills lead the Washington Football Team, 27-14, at halftime from Highmark Stadium in Buffalo.
The Bills jumped out to an early 21-0 lead, as Washington turned the ball over twice. Tight end Logan Thomas fumbled around midfield as he attempted to get a first down. The Bills would turn that turnover into a 14-0 lead.
Quarterback Taylor Heinicke was picked off on Washington’s next possession, and Buffalo returned the ball deep into Washington territory. A few plays later, Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen found tight end Dawson Knox in the end zone for a score.
Washington finally got on the board when running back Antonio Gibson took a Heinicke screen pass 73 yards for a touchdown. Then, Dustin Hopkins’ recovered his own kickoff, and suddenly Washington had the ball in the red zone.
The Bills scored two late field goals to build their lead back up to 27-14.
Washington’s defense allowed 312 total yards in the first half, including 263 passing yards and three scores from Allen. Washington’s defense has yet to get significant pressure on Allen.
Heinicke is 8 of 13 for 134 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also has a rushing touchdown.
Washington will receive the second-half kickoff.
