Bills’ Josh Allen raves about Dion Dawkins: ‘Best football of his career’

The offensive line will usually go under-the-radar when it is having a good season. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen didn’t want that to be the case for Dion Dawkins.

Buffalo’s front five have been as consistent as they ever have been in Dawkins’ career. A second-round pick of the Bills (6-5) in 2017, Dawkins and Allen have played together for a majority of their careers.

While Allen gets plenty of acknowledgement, he knows none of it would be happening if it wasn’t for Dawkins blocking his blindside at left tackle. This year, Allen’s even seeing a special side of Dawkins.

“He’s playing his best football of his career. He really is,” Allen said.

Pro Football Focus has Dawkins graded at a 77.6 overall mark through 11 games. That’s the 14th highest grade they’ve given to any tackle (both left and right) in the NFL this season.

Dawkins said this season he’s just having fun and that’s leading to success.

But c’mon, this is Dion. You know he’s going to put a one-of-a-kind twist on it.

In terms of getting up the field and clearing out room for playmakers, he just pretends he’s the one actually with the pigskin in his hands.

“I see those plays as me with the ball. As a kid, I always dreamed of catching touchdowns or running touchdowns in. So when I’m out in front of the guys with the ball, it kind of just gives me that bit of–‘It’s on me,'” Dawkins said.

Whatever works, the Bills will take it. Especially ahead of facing the Philadelphia Eagles, who sport a defensive front with one of Dawkins’ top college teammates it: Haason Reddick.
