Bills’ Dion Dawkins named 21st best tackle in NFL by PFF
Good is… good, right?
That’s what Pro Football Focus called Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins.
The football analytics outlet named Dawkins the 21st best player at his position in the NFL. In doing so, he fell under the “good starter” tier.
Here’s how PFF broke down Dawkins’ game:
Dawkins has been one of the steadier starting left tackles in the league over his five years as a starter in Buffalo. He’s earned a PFF pass-protection grade above 75.0 in all five seasons and has been the 14th-most valuable tackle in the league since 2020, per PFF WAR. That reliability and consistent play was rewarded with Dawkins’ first Pro Bowl appearance in 2022.
In August 2020, the Bills signed Dawkins to a four-year extension. Having quarterback Josh Allen’s blindside shored up is an important aspect of this team beneath the surface.
Beyond that, Dawkins is key off the field as well.
A team leader and captain, Dawkins was picked by Buffalo at the 2017 NFL draft. That was the first one under head coach Sean McDermott’s watch.
Simply put, Dawkins has helped change the culture in Buffalo. Because of both of these aspects, there’s likely another extension in 28-year-old’s future with the Bills coming one day.
