Big-time holiday performances. Vote for IHSAA boys basketball player of week (Dec. 26-30)

Damon Badgley, Shelbyville: The junior had 23 points, including five 3-pointers, along with seven rebounds in Shelbyville’s 70-51 win over Martinsville. Shelbyville is 7-4 for the first time in six years.

Josiah Ball, Maconaquah: The 6-5 junior had a pair of big games, going for 34 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists in a 78-56 win over Caston and following it with a 45-point game in an 88-83 win over Peru. Ball also had 16 rebounds and three assists in the win. Ball was 29-for-52 from the field in the two games, including 4-for-10 from the 3-point line and 17-for-23 from the free-throw line.

Flory Bidunga, Kokomo: The 6-9 senior and Kansas recruit had 16 points, six rebounds, five blocked shots and three assists in a 69-59 loss to Crispus Attucks in the first game of the Hall of Fame Classic and came back with 23 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots in an 87-58 win over Brownsburg in the consolation game. Bidunga was 16-for-22 from the field and 7-for-13 from the free-throw line in the two games.

Keenan Garner, Fishers: The 6-6 senior was named co-MVP of the Fishers tournament after he had 15 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots in a win over Bloomington North, had 18 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots in a win over Portage and capped the tourney with 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in the championship against Chesterton.

Jevon Guess, Warren Central: The 6-6 junior had 24 points and 10 rebounds in Warren Central’s 72-70 win over Brebeuf Jesuit.

Donovan Hamilton, Hamilton Southeastern: The senior Purdue football commit led Hamilton Southeastern to a 5-0 record, averaging 18.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals in the five games, including four wins in the Homestead holiday tournament. Hamilton shot 49% from the field in the five games.

Evan Haywood, Brebeuf Jesuit: The senior guard and Butler commit had 23 points, 14 rebounds and four steals in a 70-58 win over Evansville Memorial and had 31 points and six rebounds in a 72-70 loss to Warren Central.

EJ Hazelett, Franklin Central: The 6-7 sophomore had 40 points and 10 rebounds in Franklin Central’s 68-62 win over Southport. He also had 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists in a 68-51 loss to Lawrence North.

Chris Hurt, Crispus Attucks: The junior guard was 14-for-20 from the field in two games at the Hall of Fame Classic in New Castle to help the Tigers to the championship. Hurt had 18 points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals in a 69-59 win over Kokomo and went for 17 points, five assists and three rebounds in a 76-51 win over Brownstown Central in the championship game.

Drew Kegerreis, Roncalli: The 6-3 senior had a big performance in the Batesville tournament. He had 31 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the 3-point line and six rebounds in a 66-56 win over Pendleton Heights and had 34 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the 3-point line with five steals and four rebounds in a 56-46 win over Columbus North for the championship. Kegerreis was 15-for-20 from the 3-point line and 10-for-11 from the free-throw line for the day.

Carter Kent, Jennings County: The junior guard had a strong showing at the Ray Furney Classic in Lawrenceburg. He had 16 points and six assists in a 64-46 loss to Newport (Ky.), had 26 points and four assists in an 83-59 loss to New Palestine, went for 35 points, eight rebounds and four assists in a 51-48 loss to Lawrenceburg and finished with 18 points and 11 assists in a 77-50 win over Connersville.

Hudson Lang, Trinity Lutheran: The freshman made the all-tournament team at the Switzerland County Classic, averaging 18.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals in three games, including a 24-point game in a 55-54 loss to Switzerland County.

Mason Lewis, Crispus Attucks: The senior guard scored 20 of his 23 points in the first half of Crispus Attucks’ 76-51 win over Brownstown Central in the championship of the Hall of Fame Classic and was named most valuable player. He also had eight assists, four rebounds and two steals in the win. Lewis had nine points, three assists and three steals in a 69-59 win over Kokomo in the first round.

Noah Lovan, Providence: The senior guard led Providence to the Silver Creek tournament championship with wins over Charlestown (40-35) and Silver Creek (50-43). Lovan had 25 points in the championship game and earned tournament MVP honors for the second consecutive year. The last player to win back-to-back tourney MVPs was Silver Creek’s Trey Kaufman-Renn.

Landon Martin, Indian Creek: Martin went off for 35 points on 13-for-22 shooting in an 87-49 win over Hopkins County Central (Ky.) in the Switzerland County tournament.

Taden Metzger, Fishers: The senior guard was named co-MVP of the Fishers holiday tournament, scoring 11 points on 3-for-6 shooting from the 3-point line in a win over Bloomington North, had 12 points on 3-for-5 shooting from 3 in a win over Portage and had 19 points on 6-for-9 shooting from 3 in the championship against Chesterton. Metzger was 12-for-21 from the 3-point line over the three games.

Jedidiah Minnett, Avon: The sophomore guard had 17 points in an 81-48 win over Menifee County (Ky.), then had 18 points in a 63-49 win over Floyd Central and had 24 points in a 64-38 win over Paintsville (Ky.). Minnett averaged 19.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the three wins.

Kaden Muckerheide, North Decatur: The senior was named to the all-tournament team at the Bob Wettig tournament in Richmond as he totaled 83 points and 41 assists in the four games, including a pair of wins.

Mar Nicholson, Shelbyville: The sophomore had 22 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots in a 70-51 win over Martinsville as the Golden Bears are off to a 7-4 start.

Papi Rivera, North Central: The junior guard averaged 20.0 points, 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals as North Central recorded wins over Louisville Trinity and Evansville Reitz at the Paul Loggan Memorial Invitational. Rivera was 14-for-24 from the field, including 7-for-14 from the 3-point line.

Ron Rutland III, Crispus Attucks: The senior guard and UIndy signee had 16 points in Crispus Attucks’ 69-59 win over Kokomo in the Hall of Fame Classic and went for 15 points in a 76-51 win over Brownstown Central in the championship. Rutland was 12-for-21 from the field, including 5-for-9 from the 3-point line, with 10 assists, five rebounds and three steals in the two games combined.

Trent Sisley, Heritage Hills: The junior standout led Heritage Hills to wins over South Spencer, Boonville and Corydon Central and the championship of the PSC Holiday Classic. Sisley scored 30 points in the wins over South Spencer and Boonville and averaged 25.3 points and 11.7 rebounds in the tournament.

Rob Sorensen, Guerin Catholic: The senior guard was named to the all-tournament team at the Ray Furney Classic in Lawrenceburg. Sorensen averaged 19.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.5 steals in four games, including 26 points and seven rebounds in a 65-59 loss to Whiteland in the third-place game.

Anthony Towns, Perry Meridian: The 6-6 lefty senior averaged 16.0 points and 4.0 rebounds, shooting 51% from inside the 3-point arc and 60% from the 3-point line to earn a spot on the all-tournament team at Lebanon and help the Falcons to their first two wins of the season over Faith Christian and Metropolitan.

Damon Van Horn, Tindley: The senior guard averaged 17.3 points, 3.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds in four games at the Bob Wettig tournament in Richmond, leading the Tigers to a 2-2 record and fourth-place finish in the tourney.

Hunter Walston, Noblesville: The Noblesville senior scored 12 of his 17 points in a three-minute span in the fourth quarter to lead the Millers to a 56-55 win over Crown Point in the championship game of the Noblesville holiday tournament.
