Big League Chew will introduce a female ballplayer on its packaging in February
Any kid who played baseball or softball growing up is familiar with Big League Chew. Putting an entire package of it in your mouth is a rite of initiation for anyone who participated in a bat and ball sport.
Since 1980, the gum has featured a muscular man on its “Outta Here Original” packaging. In February, that’s going to change. Big League Chew will introduce a female ballplayer on its packaging for the first time.

It’s unclear whether the old packaging will be replaced, or whether this will just be a new option for fans of the gum.
The current flavors available for purchase on the Big League Chew site feature men on the packaging. By introducing a female player to the mix, Big League Chew could appeal more to fans of softball players like Jenny Finch or Jessica Mendoza, Little League stars like Monique Davis and Major League Baseball coaches like Justine Siegal — not to mention some of the female independent league players, general managers and MLB executives around the game.
