High school football: Your guide to the 2023 season

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week voting occurs each week during high school sports competition and recognizes athletes across all sports.

If you can't see the ballot when you scroll to the bottom of this story, try refreshing the link or clearing the cache in your browser. Voters can cast one vote per hour per device. You do not have to be a subscriber to vote.

Please be aware: The Dispatch's voting system recognizes only one vote per WiFi IP address, so consider taking your phone off WiFi to vote each hour if you're sharing it with multiple people.

Athletes were nominated over the past few weeks for the vote starting Monday, Sept. 4.

Athletes are on this week's ballot based on information made available to The Dispatch, and nominations made over the past week.

High school sports: 2022-23 Athletes of the week

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. If athletes haven't won in the regular season, they can be nominated more than once.

The Dispatch staff reserves the right to remove ballots or athletes from the ballot where voting irregularities have occurred.

Here are this week's Athlete of the Week candidates:

Gerald Banks, Watkins Memorial football: Rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries in a 28-7 win over Teays Valley.

Brayden Bayles, Heath football: Had 192 passing yards and 117 rushing yards in a 38-25 loss to Norwayne.

Cameron Brannigan, Northridge football: Rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-8 win over Grandview Heights.

Adam Brazier, Watkins Memorial cross country: Ran a time of 17:17.42 to win the Licking Heights Invitational.

Addison Caudill, Licking Heights cross country: Ran a time of 20:03.17 to win the Licking Heights Invitational.

Gavin Chinn, Utica football: Caught eight passes for 114 yards and a touchdown in a 34-20 win over Fredericktown.

Bradyn Fleharty, Hilliard Bradley football: Completed 18 of 24 passes for 281 yards and four touchdowns in a 31-15 win over Westerville Central.

Justin Giffin, Utica football: Rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries in a 34-20 win over Fredericktown.

Ethan Grunkemeyer, Olentangy football: Completed 16 of 25 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-14 win over Westerville South.

Aubrey Howell, Lakewood volleyball: Had 16 kills and 25 digs in a loss to Fairfield Christian.

Diore Hubbard, Gahanna Lincoln football: Rushed for 207 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries in a 46-28 win over Olentangy Liberty.

Kaynen Lindsey, Johnstown football: Rushed for 160 yards on 27 carries in a 31-0 loss to Granville.

Myriah Massey, Pickerington Central volleyball: In two games (vs. Liberty and Pickerington North), had 52 kills, four aces, 33 digs, a 2.00 passer rating and hit 0.380. She also was announced as an AVCA preseason All-American-Indoor and an AVCA All-American for beach volleyball.

Kentrell Rinehart, Ready football: Rushed for 322 yards and three touchdowns in a 47-0 win over Whetstone. In three games, he has 1,007 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

Reece Savage, Johnstown cross country: Ran a time of 19:56.66 to win the Highland Flying Scots Invitational.

Cale Snyder, Grove City football: Rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries and had three receptions for 74 yards and a TD in a 49-0 win over Thomas Worthington.

Kaseem Wade, Canal Winchester football: Rushed for 169 yards and four touchdowns on 11 carries in a 42-14 win over Lancaster.
