High school Athlete of the Week

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week voting occurs each week during high school sports competition and recognizes athletes across all sports.

High school sports: 2022-23 Athletes of the week

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. If athletes haven't won in the regular season, they can be nominated more than once.

Here are this week's Athlete of the Week candidates:

Morgan Cantrell, Teays Valley softball: Is hitting .438 with a .906 slugging percentage, .532 on-base percentage, 1.439 OPS and 58.44 quality at-bat percentage and his hitting .520 with runners in scoring position. She has 25 hits, nine singles, nine doubles, three triples, five home runs and 19 RBIs. Against Circleville she had a double and three total bases. Against Fairfield Union she had eight total bases and a double and home runs in back to innings. Homered against Hamilton Township and Amanda-Clearcreek. Defensively she has 28 put outs and a 964% fielding percentage.

Panashe Chavi, Pickerington North track and field: Set a school record (15-8) in the pole vault.

Mia Eberhardt, Pickerington North track and field: Set a school record (11:21.45) in the 3,200.

Kylie Feeney, Dublin Coffman: Ran 57.15 to break Abby Steiner’s program record (57.21) in the 400 meters.

Bella Nelson, Hilliard Darby softball: In six games last week, batted .500 (11 for 22) with six singles, four doubles, a home run and seven RBIs. Had an .818 slugging percentage and a .522 on-base percentage.

Katie Niven, Thomas Worthington softball: Threw a no-hitter and for the week had a 0.00 ERA and 0.42 WHIP. As a hitter, she had an on-base-percentage of .700 and slugging percentage of 1.00, scored 7 runs and stole 3 bases.

Faith Osborn, Pickerington Central lacrosse: Had 12 goals, six assists, six draw controls, one caused turnover and four ground balls in wins over Westerville Central  and Dublin Scioto.
