The best thing about Players Weekend in MLB might just be the cleats. Sure, the nicknames on the uniforms are cool. The colorful bats are flame-tastic. But nothing is beating the cleats — mainly because baseball players don’t always get to wear any sort of cleats they want. There are uniform rules, after all.

It all goes away on Players Weekend, as players are encouraged to express themselves and let their personalities run loose. The best of that happens on their feet. This year’s batch of cleats were full of pop-culture references, personal touches and exclusive artwork.

Redwing brown work boots because that’s what Pops wore every day rodbusting to provide for our family! Red checkerboard because nothing like a good pair of Vans. All I wore growing up and still to this day. Winnie the Pooh because it was my favorite book and kids movie when I was growing up and you should never forget how to be a kid no matter how old you are! The scribble scrabble ones are from the kids from my Harper’s Heroes program. I’m so blessed to be able to share each season with amazing kids that work to overcome cancer each and every day!
