Bergen Catholic is top 25 in the nation in the MaxPreps preseason rankings

Bergen Catholic is once again among the top-ranked high school football teams in the nation, cracking the top 25 of this week’s MaxPrep’s rankings. Two players being recruited by Rutgers football are on the Crusaders’ roster.

The top teams in the rankings were Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA) followed by Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas). Florida had four teams in the top 10 of the rankings.

In fact, Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.), who checks in at No. 24 on the list, is the only New Jersey team in the ranking’s top 25.

Not only is Bergen Catholic the best team in New Jersey, MaxPreps thinks they are the best team by quite some distance. The only other New Jersey team ranked in the top 100 is No. 94 Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.).

The program features a couple of four-star recruits in Nyier Daniels, an offensive tackle, and safety Kaj Sanders. Both Daniels and Sanders are expected to announce in July. Both players have Rutgers football in their final four.

Daniels is scheduled for July 7 and Sanderss is slated to be one day later.

Last season, Bergen Catholic went 11-1. Their lone loss in the regular season came to Don Bosco.

They then beat Don Bosco 45-0 in the state championship game to finish as the undisputed best team in New Jersey.
