Bears are signing veteran CB Davontae Harris
The Chicago Bears are signing veteran cornerback and special teamer Davontae Harris, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Harris was one of five defensive players that the Bears worked out on Thursday, and he certainly made an impression.
Harris is a former fifth-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018, and he’s bounced around over the last six seasons. Harris has spent time with five different teams, including the Bengals (2018), Denver Broncos (2019-20), Baltimore Ravens (2020), San Francisco 49ers (2021) and Los Angeles Chargers (2021).
His best season came with the Broncos in 2019, where he appeared in 16 games (6 starts) and totaled 35 tackles and 3 pass breakups.
Most recently, he appeared in six games between the Chargers and 49ers last season, where he had 9 tackles. Harris has served primarily as a reserve and special teams contributor.

The Bears have a much-improved secondary following a dismal showing in 2021, and that includes at the cornerback position. Their most notable additions include rookie Kyler Gordon and veteran nickel cornerback Tavon Young.
But with Thomas Graham Jr. sidelined with a hamstring injury, it makes sense to bring in Harris as depth at cornerback.
