The Chicago Bears closed out their final preseason game of the year with a win over the Cleveland Browns, 21-7. Here is our official game recap.

Preseason Week 4 Recap: Bears Vs Browns

THE STORY
After a sub par first drive, Brian Hoyer, Kevin White and the Offense started to gel as they dominated the first half of the game versus the Cleveland Browns. The Chicago Bears lead at the half, 12 to seven, and resorted to a ground and pound offense for most of the second half.

The defense also came up strong with key stops and yet another turnover in the preseason. They continued their dominance by delivering a scoreless second half and helping the Bears to victory. All-in-all this was a positive for the Bears because the 2nd and 3rd team showed they could match up with a 1st and 2nd string National Football League team.

The Bears win their first game this year, in preseason, 21-7 and head into the regular season with decisions to make on maintaining a 53 man roster. Bear Down!

MVP
Although RB Jordan Howard had a magnificent second half, The MVP award will go to Brian Hoyer. Hoyer faced a first string Browns defense the entire first half and was able to record a 94 QB rating. He finished the game 12 of 16 for 112 yards and the lead at the half. With Connor Shaw out for the season with a leg injury, Hoyer solidifies his position as back up QB with his performance Thursday.

LVP
This week’s biggest disappointment has to be the Bears’ special teams unit as a whole. With a missed field goal, a blocked field goal and allowing a 75 yard punt, this decision is a little easier than I thought. This group has a lot of work to do before the season starts.

STAT OF THE GAME: 107
The MVP went to Brian Hoyer for his great play against the Browns starting defense, but the player with the most impressive statistics is rookie RB Jordan Howard. Howard didn’t play a snap in the first half, but he owned the second half. Howard recorded 107 yards on 16 carries and scored one touchdown. Ground and pound was in order as the Bears rode the back of Howard to a win, literally.

PLAY OF THE GAME
Chicago’s defense deserves some credit here as they record their fourth turnover in four games. Jacoby Glen undercuts the route of the receiver and closes in on his first interception.
