Thursday's result

LITCHFIELD 4, PANA 2 (5 innings): In a rain-shortened game at Pana, single runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings helped the Purple Panthers secure a nonconference victory.

Litchfield scored its first two runs on passed balls before Titan Hires gave the Panthers a 3-2 lead in the fourth on an RBI groundout. Ethan Saathoff’s sacrifice fly in the fifth gave Litchfield a 4-2 lead.

Pana scored a run each in the second and third innings. Blayne Pope knocked in a run with a single in the second and Cole File added an RBI single in the third.

Carson Saathoff tripled and Mathew Bywater had a hit and a run for Litchfield. Tate Dobrinich struck out one, walked none and threw 1 2/3 hitless innings in relief to earn the victory on the mound.

Wednesday's results

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 2, SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 0: At Robin Roberts Stadium, the host Senators opened with two runs in the first inning and Seth Impson carried SHS the rest of the way in a Central State Eight Conference win.

Impson struck out seven in a complete game. He gave up just five hits and one walk.

Carter Kruse smacked an RBI double to left field after Enrico Veach led off the first with a single. Kruse, who finished with two hits, later scored on an error.

Gage Luttrell suffered the loss in six innings. He gave up six hits, one walk and one earned run with two strikeouts.

SOUTHEAST 14, DECATUR MACARTHUR 0 (5 innings): At Eisenhower Park, Tim Herrington, Ethan Murphy and Carter Murphy each had three hits as the Spartans beat blanked the Generals in the first game of a doubleheader.

Carter Murphy hit three singles and had three RBIs at the plate. On the mound, he struck out nine and allowed one hit and no walks in the complete-game shutout.

Ethan Murphy was 3-for-3 with a double and a triple and drove in two runs. Carter Hood tripled and batted in two runs.

SOUTHEAST 18, DECATUR MACARTHUR 1 (4 innings): At Eisenhower Park, Miles Leininger batted 3-for-3 with four RBIs to help the Spartans in the second game of a doubleheader sweep.

Leininger also struck out seven and allowed one run on five hits and two walks for the complete-game win.

Jaxon Cook was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Carter Hood was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in and Ethan Murphy, Braxton Twist and Jordan Gillum all finished with two RBIs.

The Spartans improved to 6-8 overall and 3-3 in the Central State Eight Conference.

JACKSONVILLE 15, DECATUR EISENHOWER 5 (5 innings): At Decatur, catcher Liam Lane was 2-for-4 with five RBIs to lead the Crimsons in a Central State Eight Conference game.

Lane was 2-for-4 while teammate Hayden Hicks went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two walks. Brandon Sims had a two-run fielder’s choice in Jacksonville’s seven-run second inning.

Ryan Headen struck out five and got the win by allowing just one hit and two runs — both unearned — over four innings pitched.

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 17, LANPHIER 0 (4 innings): At Chatham, Cam Appenzeller tripled and generated two hits with three RBIs in a Central State Eight Conference victory.

Krayton Reincke and Colten Knoedler also each had a triple. Reincke finished with two RBIs and two runs. Mason Marshall delivered two hits with two RBIs and two runs. Joe Anderson and Michael Lucas each had two hits and two runs.

TAYLORVILLE 17, DECATUR UNITY CHRISTIAN 0 (4 innings): At Taylorville, pinch hitter Judd Bates hit a third-inning grand slam as the Tornadoes piled on 12 runs in the frame to win a nonconference game.

Isaac Repscher doubled and drove in five runs for the Tornadoes. B Ladage was the only Taylorville player with two hits; the Tornadoes had 15 players with at least one plate appearance.

Repscher struck out eight, gave up one hit and issued one walk in four scoreless innings.

NORTH MAC 8, LUTHERAN 6: At Lutheran, North Mac scored three runs in the top of the seventh and held on as Lutheran tacked on four in the bottom half in a nonconference win.

Aiden Hatalla and Colin Etter each tripled and had two hits apiece for the Panthers.

Hatalla led off the top of the seventh with a triple, scored on a ground ball by Quinn Morrow. With one out, Andrew Scroggins singled ahead of Etter's RBI triple for a 7-2 lead. Etter scored on an error when Clark Sanson attempted a sacrifice.

Julian Wilson led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk and Tad Andrews’ single gave the Crusaders runners at the corners. With one out, Matt Hemenway walked then Max Yenchko hit a two-RBI line drive single to right field as Wilson and Andrews scored.

Caleb Cox scored Hemenway on a sacrifice fly as Lutheran pulled within 8-5. The Crusaders got one more run when A.J. Gehrke singled to left to plate Yenchko from third.

Andrews finished 2-for-3 for Lutheran.

NORMAL U-HIGH 12, LINCOLN 1 (5 innings): At Normal, Lincoln's Colbie Glenn had one of the Railsplitters’ six hits and the only RBI in a Central State Eight Conference loss.

Glenn and Drew Hayes doubled for the Railers.

STAUNTON 18, EAST ALTON-WOOD RIVER 2 (4 innings): At Wood River, Drake Billings went 2-for-3 with five RBIs to lead the Bulldogs in a nonconference win.

Brady Gillen, Ethan Sharp and Reese Bohlen all doubled for Staunton. Gillen went 3-for-3 with four runs and one RBI, Dillon Pritchett was 2-for-2 with four runs scored and two RBIs while Sharp was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and runs.

Billings threw all four innings for the win. He struck out three, walked two and allowed two runs — one earned — on six hits.

DELAVAN 10, HAVANA 6: At Havana, Alec McGrew and Mac Martindale each had three hits in the loss for the Ducks. Kaden Olson chipped in two hits and two RBIs.

Braden Arrenholz homered for the Panthers and finished with two hits, two RBIs and two runs. Kyi Westbrook had two hits and three RBIs.

LIBERTY 9, RUSHVILLE-INDUSTRY 8: At Liberty, Carter Fretueg finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double and Bennett Fretueg homered but it wasn't enough for the Rockets.

Rushville-Industry took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second after Wyatt Fowler hit a two-run single and Bennett Fretueg drove in another run on a fielder's choice. Bennett Fretueg finished with three RBIs.

Liberty took a 4-3 lead with a four-run fourth inning before Rushville regained the lead with two in the fifth and one in the sixth. Leading 6-5, the Rockets plated two more runs in the top of the seventh before the Eagles won with four in the bottom of the seventh.

GILLESPIE 15, GREENFIELD-NORTHWESTERN 0 (3 innings): At Gillespie, three Miners drove in three runs apiece as Gillespie took out its three-game losing streak on the Tigers in a nonconference game.

Tristen Wargo, Bryce Buhs and Jack Kaylor all had three RBIs. Wargo was 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, a walk and three runs scored. Luke Schuckenbrock finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs and a triple. Buhs doubled and scored twice, Kaylor doubled and Carson Hailstone was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs.

The Miners improved to 13-6.

ROXANA 13, CARLINVILLE 1 (5 innings): At Roxana, Noah Byots was 2-for-2 and stole a pair of bases but the Cavaliers were fanned 11 times in a nonconference loss.

Mason Wise had Carlinville's lone RBI in the top of the third.

BETHANY OKAW VALLEY 7, PAWNEE 4: At Pawnee, Tyler Surber walked to put the tying run on first but Okaw Valley induced a double play ground ball to win the nonconference game.

Trenton Hull led Pawnee by going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
