Thursday’s results

BASEBALL

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 6, SPRINGFIELD HIGH 0 (6 innings): At Robin Roberts Stadium, Caleb Chamberlain and Alex Chopra combined to throw six scoreless innings and the Titans seized their second straight outright Central State Eight Conference title with the win.

Only a home meeting against Lincoln on Tuesday stands in the way of Glenwood’s pursuit of perfection in conference play.

Chamberlain ceded just one hit in four innings, which came against his first batter of the game. He ended with four walks and four strikeouts before Chopra came in relief.

Krayton Reincke scored the game’s first run on a Bryce Murphy single. Reincke, Murphy and Colten Knoedler each contributed two hits for the Titans (23-4, 9-0 CS8).

Reincke chipped in an RBI single in the fourth and Glenwood scored four runs in the frame for a 6-0 advantage. That included a 2-RBI single by Cam Appenzeller.

The game was called in the seventh due to heavy rain.

SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 9, NORMAL U-HIGH 6 (9 innings): At Normal, SHG scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning and swept the two-game series against the Pioneers.

Will Lance and Carson Butler both walked with the bases loaded and Max Powers hit an RBI sacrifice fly to account for SHG’s runs in the ninth.

Down to their last at-bat, the Cyclones scored two runs to tie the game 6-6 in the top of the seventh. Andy Antonacci drew a bases-loaded walk and Gage Luttrell had an RBI groundout to force extra innings.

Butler threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, striking out three and walking one. Drew Ward had an RBI single, and Charlie Linderman delivered a two-run triple in SHG’s three-run second inning.

The Cyclones led 4-3 in the fifth until U-High scored three in the sixth to take the lead.

JACKSONVILLE 11, SOUTHEAST 0 (5 innings): At Eisenhower Park, Ryan Luconic tossed a five-inning no-hitter and a big fourth inning propelled the Crimsons to a Central State Eight Conference win.

Luconic struck out nine and walked two, while Jacksonville scored eight runs in the fourth to seize control.

Hayden Hicks and Brandon Sims each had two hits and an RBI for the Crimsons. Anderson Decker and Joe Reif both drove in two runs.

LINCOLN 9, AUBURN 6: At Auburn, Michael Lucas had two hits with a home run and the Railers held on for a nonconference win.

Jarrett Evers went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI and Trey Schilling drove in two runs for Lincoln. Pitcher Parker Graue earned the win, allowing four hits in four scoreless innings.

Anderson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Auburn, which trailed 9-2 before scoring four runs in the seventh.

EL PASO-GRIDLEY 10, MOUNT PULAKSI 5: At Mount Pulaski, the Hilltoppers managed just five hits and their 10-game winning streak was snapped.

Tyler Cross had the only RBI for Mount Pulaski (22-2) as both teams combined for nine errors. Joah Knapp had a hit with a double and drove in two runs for El Paso-Gridley.   

PANA 7, SHELBYVILLE 6: At Shelbyville, Cash Lynch broke a 6-6 tie with an RBI single in the top of the seventh inning to lead the Panthers to a nonconference victory.

Shelbyville had runners at first and third in the bottom half of the seventh, but winning pitcher Dane Epley got the final out to close out the win.

Lynch finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Epley was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

GLEN CARBON FATHER MCGIVNEY 8, ROCHESTER 4: At Glen Carbon, Father McGivney plated four runs in the sixth inning and corralled a nonconference win.

Jorey Myren hit a solo home run for Rochester and teammate Tyler Binion went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Parker Gillespie notched a 2-for-3 effort with a run scored.

Drew Kleinheider went 4-for-4 with three runs and Ben Sink recorded three hits and two RBIs for Father McGivney.

ATHENS 14, BUFFALO TRI-CITY 8: At Athens, the Warriors erased a three-run deficit by scoring nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cap a nonconference win.

Josh Harris (3-for-4) had two singles and drove in three runs as Athens batted around in its big sixth inning. Kyle Weatherford finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Carson Reichert had four RBIs without a hit. Carson Moscardelli went 2-for-2 with an RBI in the victory.

Jackson Nibbe and Cash O’Connell had two hits apiece for Tri-City.

PETERSBURG PORTA 7, NOKOMIS 3: At Petersburg, PORTA erased a 3-2 deficit with five runs in the sixth inning to record a nonconference win.

Brady Kinney went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Mason Heubner had a hit and drove in two runs for PORTA.

Ian Keller was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Levi German ended with two RBIs for Nokomis.

PAWNEE 16, BUNKER HILL 5 (5 innings): At Pawnee, an 11-run fourth inning sealed a win for the hosts.

Carson Wort (2-for-3, three runs) and Hunter Barber (2-for-4, two runs) had three RBIs apiece for Pawnee. Nick Rice went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the leadoff spot.

JACKSONVILLE ROUTT 14, PLEASANT HILL 0 (5 innings): At Pleasant Hill, Routt scored 14 runs in the first inning and posted a Western Illinois Valley Conference victory.

Jace Lautemann tripled in two runs and scored on a wild pitch in Routt’s 14-run first. Nolan Turner also had a two-run triple, Conrad Charpentier doubled in two runs and Talon Thompson added a two-run single in the inning.

Winning pitcher Isaac Long allowed two hits, striking out four and walking five in three innings of work. Taegan Rives threw two scoreless relief innings and finished with two strikeouts and one walk.

RUSHVILLE-INDUSTRY 6, FARMINGTON 5: At Rushville, Carter Fretueg ripped a walk-off two-run double and the Rockets scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in a comeback win.

Wyatt Fowler had a two-run single in the seventh that set up Fretueg’s game-winning hit. Rushville-Industry trailed 5-0 and scored two runs in the sixth on a run-scoring double by Bennett Fretueg (2-for-3) and an RBI single by Carter Fretueg.

Carter Fretueg finished 3-for-3 on the day.

RAYMOND LINCOLNWOOD 19, LUTHERAN 0 (5 innings): At Lutheran, Jonah Elvidge threw a five-inning no-hitter and the Lancers pounded out 15 hits to secure a nonconference victory.

Elvidge struck out 11 and walked just one on 71 pitches. Lincolnwood took advantage of six Lutheran errors and Elvidge also came through at the plate by going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Kennady Cook (three RBIs), Jhude Walker (two RBIs), Tucker Armentrout and Mason Tryon collected two hits apiece. Brody Lush (three runs scored) and Izeck Matli finished with two RBIs each for the Lancers.   

ROXANA 3, GILLESPIE 2 (9 innings): At Roxana, Aidan Briggs drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Shells won a nonconference game.

Gillespie took a 2-1 lead when Jaydon Baker had an RBI single in the sixth. Tristen Wargo was hit by a pitch with the bases full and Colin Griffith scored for the Miners’ first run.

Roxana’s Kyle Campbell forced extra innings with an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.

CONCORD TRIOPIA 6, NEW BERLIN 2 (10 innings): At New Berlin, Triopia’s Cooper Parrish doubled in two runs and the Trojans scored four times in the top of the10th inning to post a win.

New Berlin scored twice in the third on a bases-loaded walk by Wesley Preckwinkle and an RBI single by Bryce Pridemore (3-for-4). Triopia tied the game in the sixth on an RBI single by Evan Bell.

Lucas Bixby finished 2-for-5 with a run scored for New Berlin.

Wednesday’s results

LINCOLN 6, PLEASANT PLAINS 0: At Lincoln, Wyatt Mammen didn’t allow a run in 6 2/3 innings to lead the Railsplitters to a nonconference win.

He gave up three hits and six walks with six strikeouts. Lincoln opened with three runs i the first inning, including Trey Schilling’s 2-RBI double. Jarrett Evers also had a hit with two RBIs. Colbie Glenn and Michael Lucas each had two hits.

Drew Green led Pleasant Plains with two hits.

MOUNT PULASKI 3, GLASFORD ILLINI BLUFFS 0: At Glasford, Chance Payne closed out the final two innings to lead the Hilltoppers to a Tomahawk Conference win.

The game picked up at the top of the fifth inning from last week.

Payne earned the complete-game win with eight strikeouts. He only gave up two hits and four walks.

Landon Smith had a hit and run scored while cousin Liam Smith had a hit and RBI. Luke Martin supplied a hit and run while Eric Cooper added an RBI.

Mount Pulaski added an insurance run in the fifth.
