Baseball rankings: Some stability, changes with our top high school teams in Bucks County

There is some stability at the top of our biweekly baseball rankings of the top Bucks County area high school teams, but also changes involving more than half of the top 10 as schools prepare for the postseason.

The 24 with the most power points will qualify for the PIAA District One Class 6A playoffs, with the top 12 making it in 5A.

These are our latest rankings (through games of Monday, May 6):

1. Neshaminy (14-2)

The Suburban One League Patriot Division leaders edged Council Rock North 7-6 in nine innings on senior Chase Bonner's walk-off squeeze bunt that scored sophomore Brandon Lall (4 for 4). Senior Ryan Fox contributed a two-run single. Neshaminy also defeated Pennsbury 9-2 as senior Anthony Trommer had three hits and two RBIs. Fox went the distance on the mound vs. the Falcons.

2. La Salle (15-3)

The Philadelphia Catholic League-leading Explorers handled Archbishop Ryan 15-2 behind a home run and five RBIs from senior Casey Nealon, with senior Kevin Schmidt and juniors Narayana Weld and Dylan Carter chipping in two RBIs apiece. Senior Matt Gannon had four RBIs in an 11-2 win over Devon Prep.

3. CB East (11-4)

Senior Damian Frayne improved to 5-0 with a three-hit complete game and struck out 11 in the Patriots' 5-1 victory over CB South. Junior Chase Fulford finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs, senior Reece Moody went 2 for 4 and senior Chase Harlan contributed a solo home run. CB East also defeated SOL Patriot-leading Neshaminy 5-2 as Moody (two hits) and junior Nolan Behm opened the bottom of the first inning with solo homers. Senior Jack Mislan had two hits and Frayne was again the winning pitcher.

4. Quakertown (12-5)

The Panthers, who were No. 8 two weeks ago, gave SOL Liberty leader Plymouth Whitemarsh its first SOL loss 2-1 thanks in large part to senior Matt Marsten. He allowed just one hit in 6⅓ innings while going 2 for 2 at the plate. Marsten had an RBI double and junior Gunnar Rahn added a run-scoring single. Junior Cole Reich was 3 for 4 with two doubles in a 14-4 victory over Cheltenham. Sophomore Brady Martin had two hits and two RBIs.

5. Pennsbury (11-5)

The Falcons toppled Harry S. Truman 13-1 in five innings and Central Bucks West 7-3. Senior Ty Boraski paced the offense against Truman with three hits and three RBIs while junior Dylan Hirsh added a two-run triple. Senior Michael Mercora had a two-run home run vs. CB West, with senior Jordan Czerniak contributing two RBIs and sophomore Connor O'Brien tossing five shutout innings in relief for the win.

6. Conwell-Egan (11-4)

The Eagles downed Archbishop Wood 3-1 as freshman Brady Guzzie (four innings with one unearned run) and junior Chase Forester (three shutout innings) handled the pitching duties, with sophomore Connor Landau contributing two RBIs. Conwell-Egan also edged Lansdale Catholic 1-0 behind a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts and one walk by senior Kyle Tuthill.

7. Faith Christian (14-0)

The Lions continued to win big, topping MaST Charter 14-1 and Renaissance Academy 15-0. Senior Grayson Weikel tossed a no-hitter over three innings vs. Renaissance and swatted his eighth home run of the season against MaST. Senior Kendri Beltre totaled five hits between the two victories while junior Reid Miller and freshman Jagger Verbit had four apiece.

8. Bristol (13-0)

The Warriors upended Tacony Academy Charter 15-0 in three innings as sophomore Cole Guy had a grand slam among his five RBIs and allowed just one hit as the winning pitcher. Freshman Hayden Scancella chipped in with a pair of RBIs. They also downed The Christian Academy 6-4 behind five one-hit, shutout innings with nine strikeouts from freshman Dom Capriotti. Bristol visits Faith Christian in a matchup of BAL unbeatens Wednesday.

9. North Penn (10-5)

The Knights handled CB West 6-1 as juniors Ben Grattan and Jeremiah Criger each had two RBIs while senior Nick Palovich threw a four-hit complete game with 11 strikeouts. Senior Ben Farley's five RBIs, including a bases-loaded triple, keyed an 8-3 victory over Pennridge.

10. CR North (10-6)

North blanked Bensalem 4-0 behind a four-hit shutout from sophomore Jude Hamilton. Senior Nick DiGiacomo led the offense by going 4 for 4 with a triple and two doubles. Senior Leor Kedar's two-run double helped CR North get past Harry S. Truman 7-4.
