Baker Mayfield has 'completely torn' left labrum as Browns' injury woes continue

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield will attempt to practice Tuesday, but the long-term prognosis isn't good. Mayfield is dealing with a "completely torn" labrum in his left shoulder.

Mayfield confirmed the news, explaining other parts in his shoulder are "frayed."

Mayfield, 26, will attempt to play through the injury for now. He's expected to be limited in practice Tuesday, and told reporters he expects to play in the team's Week 7 game Thursday.

That could change as the week progresses. Mayfield will seek a second opinion on his shoulder and that could determine whether he's allowed to play Thursday, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski did not commit to Mayfield playing in Week 7.

Mayfield was not present during the open portion of practice Tuesday.

Mayfield initially sustained a dislocated shoulder in Week 2. He re-aggravated the injury during Week 6 after landing awkwardly on his left arm while being tackled. Mayfield showed up to the postgame press conference with his left arm in a sling.

Browns already missing Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt

Losing Mayfield for Week 7 would be devastating for the Browns. The team was already set to play without running back Kareem Hunt, who was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. Starting running back Nick Chubb missed the team's Week 6 game due to a calf issue, and will also be unavailable for Thursday's game, Stefanski announced Tuesday.

After starting the season 3-1, the Browns sit at .500 after dropping their last two games. The team will look to get back on track when it takes on the Denver Broncos on Thursday. If Mayfield can't go, Case Keenum is expected to get the start.
