Badgers men’s hockey puts together historic weekend

When the Badgers hired Mike Hastings (Minnesota State) to become their head coach this offseason, they were looking for a quick turnaround following their 13-23 season in 2022-2023. What they didn’t realize was how quick they’d figure things.

Wisconsin went on the road to face #1 ranked Minnesota on the road Thursday and Friday night, beating the Gophers on both occasions.

After getting down 1-0 in the first 15 seconds of Thursday’s matchup, the Badgers responded quickly and got the win 5-2. They continued their momentum Friday, eeking out a 3-2 win, sweeping Minnesota on the road for only the fifth time in 23 years.

With leaders like Mathieu De St. Phalle and Cruz Lucius out on the ice, it’s possible that this Wisconsin squad could be in for a special year, now sitting at 7-1 through eight games.
