With backflipping, camera phone wielding Tyreek Hill and MVP leader Tua, Dolphins never been more fun | Schad

MIAMI GARDENS — Let them have fun.

Let them jump into the stands. Let them do backflips in the end zone with cell phone cameras rolling in their hands.

This is as fun as it gets, Miami Dolphins fans.

This is as fun as it gets, NFL.

Stop throwing celebration flags. Stop fining Tyreek Hill.

Embrace it. Relish it. This is the new NFL.

The Dolphins rolled past the Panthers, 42-21 on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.

Oh, they fell behind 14-0 quickly, as they apparently skipped their cafecitos.

"No pressure," Hill said. "No doubt."

No matter.

Tua Tagovailoa outdueled fellow former Bama quarterback Bryce Young, who played better than expected.

The Dolphins are 5-1 for the first time in 21 years.

And now the real fun starts.

"We've had a successful first six games," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said. "So, we're hoping to make that a season."

Dolphins have Eagles, Chiefs on horizon

Two of the next three games are against NFL juggernauts Philadelphia and Kansas City. But Miami is a juggernaut, too.

The Dolphins appear up to this challenge.

Tua Tagovailoa is the leader in the NFL's MVP race.

And Hill, on pace for more than 2,000 yards, is a Top 5 candidate, too.

Dolphins fans would be fine if Miami was a defense-centric playoff competitor, as it was 20+ years ago. That's when Zach Thomas, honored as a Hall of Famer at halftime, was patrolling the middle of Miami's defense.

This defense is more bend-don't-don't-don't-please-don't-break.

But Miami's offense is so very-very-very good that it doesn't matter so much.

And this is so much more fun.

On Sunday, Hill was penalized for "taunting" when he took the cell phone from a person in the back of the end zone and recorded himself doing a backflip.

"I heard there was a prop," McDaniel said to Tyreek.

"But it wasn't my phone," Hill replied.

Said Hill: "I called my shot. I know the NFL's gonna' fine me. It's worth it, though. Creating memories."

McDaniel is a genius, innovative creator of offense.

Before the game, CBS' Trent Green drew the comparison between McDaniel and guru Mike Martz, his coach with the St. Louis Rams.

They were both so creative and thus, through six games, these are the two best offenses in the history of the NFL.

Think of it this way: in games against Denver, the Giants and Panthers, Miami has posted a total of 20 touchdowns. Twenty. Touchdowns.

Miami can be without Pro Bowl left tackle Terron Armstead and elite center Connor Williams and rookie of the year candidate and running back De'Von Achane, and still, well, score at will.

Tua, Dolphins can strike so quickly

That's the thing. This Miami team will never, ever be out of a game.

I don't care if they're down 17-0 at Philadelphia next Sunday night, or down 20-0 to the Chiefs in Germany, they're never, ever out of it.

That makes it, well, very, very fun.

Appreciate this, Dolphins fans.

Appreciate that when Tua leads three straight touchdown drives on Sunday, the reaction is, well, ho-hum.

Scoring is expected. Winning is expected. Fun celebrations are expected.

Tua is the perfect quarterback to operate this offense.

Hill is the perfect weapon for Tua.

McDaniel is the perfect coach for Tua.

Appreciate that Hill is a player who brings not just yards and touchdowns, but a joyfulness.

Want to flag him after he flashes the peace sign and finds his mom in the stands with a football?

Whatever.

Tyreek Hill taunting, celebration flags and fines worth it

The owner of the Dolphins, Stephen Ross, should pick up the tab.

Or general manager Chris Grier.

Or McDaniel.

Or Tua.

Does. Not. Matter.

It is true that Shula-Marino-Clayton-Duper was fun.

It was so much fun.

You know what?

This may be even more fun.

"Getcha popcorn ready," Hill said, as he walked of the press room on Sunday. "Get it ready!"

Soak it all in, Dolphins fans.

(And NFL, too.)
