B-R continues to run past opponents

Sep. 19—MONROE CITY — The Barr-Reeve Vikings varsity cross country teams competed at South Knox invite this past Saturday. The girls came out victorious again beating 14 other teams to claim the team win. Barr-Reeve ladies scored 70 points for first while Castle scored 80 points for second place. Emily Wagler led the Vikings with a seventh place finish, Allie Knepp was 11th, Elle Knepp 19th, Madison Senne 21st, Emma Salmon 22nd, Madisyn Wagler 41st, Claire Raber 65th, Katie Raber 110th and Alyssa Lasher 116th.

"The top 5 ladies packed together very nicely and we knew it would be a close race with Castle. They raced very well and knew what they needed to do to get the win. I couldn't be more proud of their team performance today on a very tough course," said coach Jodi Knepp.

On the boys' side, the Vikings were fifth place overall as a team out of 15 teams competing. They tied South Knox for 4th place but South Knox's 6th runner was ahead of B-R's 6th runner so they got the 4th place spot.

Paxton Traylor led the way for the Vikings in 12th place, Logan Spinks was 16th, Pierce Yoder 20th, Alton Klopfenstein 25th, Kaden Buse 49th, Tye Thompson 70th, Owen McCracken 80th and Mathew Marek was 164th. Alton and Mathew both had PR's.

"This is not a PR course but they both raced very well. Alton had an amazing day and really helped the team score today, added Knepp.
