Auburn EDGE Eku Leota accepts Senior Bowl invite

Auburn edge rusher Eku Leota won’t be returning to the Tigers during the regular season, but he’ll still have a chance to wear the Auburn helmet one last time.

Auburn football announced on Twitter that Leota had accepted an invite to the senior bowl on Tuesday. Leota has not played for Auburn since the LSU game, where he suffered a pectoral injury that ended his season.

Cole Pinkston of On3 reported that Leota will not return to Auburn to play in the regular season. Leota was a transfer from Northwestern and has amassed 40 tackles, nine sacks and 15 tackles for loss on the Plains. Leota was former head coach Bryan Harsin’s first transfer player of his coaching tenure.

Leota is the first Tiger to accept his Senior Bowl invite so far. Nehemiah Pritchett, Owen Pappoe, D.J. James and Derick Hall have also gotten invites but have not confirmed that they will play in the game as of yet.
