Atlanta Hawks to acquire Dejounte Murray from San Antonio Spurs for Danilo Gallinari, first-round picks

Dejounte Murray is heading to Atlanta.

The San Antonio Spurs are trading the 26-year-old All-Star point guard to the Atlanta Hawks for Danilo Gallinari and multiple first-round picks, USA TODAY Sports has confirmed. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarwoski first reported news of the trade.

In exchange for Murray, the Hawks are also sending the Spurs a 2023 first-round pick from Charlotte and their own 2025 and 2027 first-round picks.

Murray will join All-Star point guard Trae Young on the Hawks, who look to return to the Eastern Conference finals after falling to the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2022 playoffs.

Young reacted to the trade on Instagram Wednesday, sharing a photo of himself and Murray participating in All-Star weekend in February.

"This (poop emoji) just got real," Young wrote. "Let’s get busy my Brotha."

Murray was drafted by the Spurs with the 29th pick in the 2016 NBA draft.
