Nokomis' Reece Lohman wins the Athlete of the Week poll for the Springfield area

Nokomis' Reece Lohman won the State Journal-Register's athlete of the week poll.

The poll closed at noon on Friday. Lohman won with 1,009 votes, followed by Lincoln's Trey Schilling with 451.

Information about the nominees is below. Jacksonville Routt's Bryson Mossman won last week's poll.

Carson Arthalony, Petersburg PORTA/A-C Central, girls basketball

The junior forward produced 17 points, four rebounds and two assists in a 45-23 state-ranked nonconference win over Teutopolis on Saturday. She shot 7 of 9 from the field.

JaiQuan Holman, Lanphier, boys basketball

The junior guard gave Lanphier a 54-50 advantage with a two-point bucket and 3-pointer, and his final layup created the final score in a 61-58 Central State Eight Conference win over Jacksonville on Friday. Holman scored nine points in the fourth, including 15 of his game-high 27 in the second half. He had 10 points in the first quarter and ended making 11 of 17 shots with three 3s. It was the final boys basketball game at Lober-Nika Gymnasium.

Reece Lohman, Nokomis, boys basketball

The junior forward hit the go-ahead field goal with six seconds left and finished with 21 points in a 47-46 MSM Conference win over Raymond Lincolnwood on Friday. He went 8 of 10 from the free throw line while also supplying six rebounds and 10 blocks.

Cooper Schallenberg, Pleasant Plains, boys basketball

The junior guard generated four 3s and game-high 27 points in a 60-40 nonconference win over Litchfield at the Taylorville Shootout on Saturday. He mustered 12 points in the fourth quarter. He also poured in six 3s and game-high 28 points in a 54-41 Sangamo Conference win over Pittsfield on Wednesday.

Trey Schilling, Lincoln, boys basketball

The senior guard delivered four 3s and 16 points in a 40-36 Central State Eight Conference win over Chatham Glenwood on Friday.

Katelyn Truesdale, Riverton, girls basketball

The senior guard poured in four 3s and finished with 17 points in Thursday's 41-35 nonconference win over South County. She also had two 3s in the second quarter to spur the Hawks ahead 25-16 at halftime en route to Saturday's 48-36 nonconference win over Pawnee/Lutheran.
