Arsenal transfer news: Sturm Graz likely to face big competition to sign Mika Biereth this summer

Arsenal striker Mika Biereth’s stunning form for Sturm Graz has led to the Austrian club wanting to sign him permanently this summer.

Biereth joined Sturm Graz on loan in January and has scored eight goals in 11 games.

Sturm Graz would love to keep the 21-year-old beyond this season but they are likely to face competition for his signature.

Biereth will have just one year left on his contract at Arsenal come the summer and his fine form will have caught the eye of other clubs around Europe.

The frontman has been at Arsenal since 2021, when they signed him from Fulham.

Biereth was a prolific goalscorer for Fulham Under-18s, scoring 21 goals in as many games during his final season for them.

He has struggled for opportunities at Arsenal and is still waiting to make his senior debut for the Gunners.

Sturm Graz is the third club Biereth has joined on loan since joining Arsenal, following stints at Dutch side RKC Waalwijk and Motherwell of the Scottish Premiership.

Biereth had been at Motherwell for the first half of this season but his loan was cut short after Sturm Graz expressed an interest.

The Denmark Under-21 international was not unhappy at Motherwell, but he could not turn down the chance to play in the Europa Conference League with Sturm Graz.

The Austrian club fought hard to sign him and beat off competition from Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.
