Armando Bacot and R.J. Davis compare how they’d play against NBA phenom

Victor Wembanyama is one of the greatest basketball prospects since LeBron James.

Wemby, as the sports world calls him, is this tall, lanky kid from France who can dribble like a point guard and shoot from anywhere like Kevin Durant. The San Antonio Spurs took Wemby first overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, making him the new franchise cornerstone they hadn’t enjoyed since ACC alum Tim Duncan.

With a polarizing player like Wemby, comes comparisons from basketball minds everywhere.

Two of those minds are star UNC basketball players Armando Bacot and R.J. Davis, who gave their answers at the ACC Tipoff in Charlotte, N.C. earlier this week.

Bacot, up first in the list of ACC stars, predicted he would top Wemby 21-17.

Davis, who answered a couple players later, gave more of a comedic answer. He said “I’m going with me because I love me,” then proceeded to predict a 21-15 win over Wemby.

While Bacot and Davis both may join Wemby in the NBA next year, they have a more immediate mission – helping UNC win its seventh National Championship in their final collegiate season. With Bacot’s immensely-talented post game and Davis’ shooting ability, a title isn’t too far out of reach.
