Arkansas baseball versus Little Rock score updates: Hogs top Trojans in midweek action

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas baseball will try to avoid its first losing streak of the season against an in-state rival.

The No. 1 Razorbacks (19-3) host Little Rock (13-10) Tuesday at 3 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m. but moved up with cold weather in the forecast.

Arkansas is coming off a series victory over Auburn. The Hogs earned a pair of one-run victories to open the weekend, but the Tigers rallied to avoid the sweep in the finale. The loss ended a 15 game winning streak for the Razorbacks.

The Razorbacks are unbeaten in midweek action this season, and Tuesday's rivalry bout with Little Rock comes just before a key home series against LSU.

  • FINAL: No. 1 Arkansas 11, Little Rock 0 (7 innings). Ben Bybee and three other pitchers combine for a shutout as Arkansas hits three home runs in the sixth to clinch a comfortable victory. Arkansas will be back in action Thursday night against No. 7 LSU.

Sixth Inning

  • The bats have come to life for Arkansas in the inning. Jack Wagner hit a solo home run, and Will Edmonson smacked a two-run shot to give Arkansas an 11-0 lead. The Hogs are now three outs away from a mercy-rule victory.

  • Wehiwa Aloy smacks a grand slam to left, and Arkansas extends its lead to 8-0. Aloy now has a team-high 24 RBIs on the season despite his slow start.

  • Christian Foutch comes out of the bullpen to toss a scoreless inning. Arkansas has left seven runners on base but comes to the plate with a 4-0 lead.

Fourth Inning

  • Dylan Carter pitched a scoreless fourth inning out of the bullpen. Bybee struck out five batters and gave up just one hit across three frames in his season debut. Arkansas leads Little Rock 4-0 as we head to the bottom half.

  • Arkansas scores two more runs off a Peyton Stovall homer and leads Little Rock 4-0 as we head to the third. Stovall now has 3 home runs and 12 RBIs on the season.

First Inning

  • Arkansas takes a 2-0 lead into the second. Jack Wagner had a sacrifice fly and Peyton Holt scored a run with a hit by pitch. Holt saw 11 pitches in his at-bat.

  • Ben Bybee sets Little Rock down 1-2-3 in the top if the first on just 11 pitches. His fastball sat in the mid 90s and he finished the inning with a strikeout off his curveball.
