Arizona State softball fans sound off on Ray Anderson after Trisha Ford Texas A&M hire
Multiple outlets reported that ASU softball coach Trisha Ford will become the next head coach at Texas A&M on Monday night and Arizona State fans took to social media with their thoughts.
And they were not happy about it.
Many used the news as another reason to slam ASU athletic director Ray Anderson for the state of the Arizona State athletics programs.
The ASU softball team came just one win away from the Women's College World Series this season.
Ford took over the program in the 2017 season and was the Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2022.
She led the Sun Devils to the Pac-12 title this season. Her 2018 team finished third in the Women's College World Series.
Texas A&M Director of Athletics Ross Bjork confirmed Ford's hire on Tuesday.

I get it. Who WANTS to work for Ray Anderson?

More coaches lost to Texas A&M. We can’t even get on a the EA Sports college football game return. Sorry, Ray Anderson has to go.

Damd, ASU sports can’t catch a break. You all should take a better look at Ray. SMH he’s making ASU non competitive.

Can’t imagine working for RA. I said years ago she wouldn’t ever be the coach to get us back to the championship and I stand by that, but she did some good things. I’m concerned the seniors will leave with her. ASU athletics as a whole are a sinking ship. Good luck coach ✌🏻

@SunDevilRay23 @michaelcrow @ASUSoftball One thing is absolutely true about you two - you do not give 2💩💩about ASU Sports. One of the BRIGHT spots in sports this year was this team! Now-Coach is leaving and who will go with her? You don’t know, nor do you care. Way to go Ray😡 https://t.co/ymm1zyc0Ls

Another day, more news of @SunDevilRay23 killing @ASU athletics some more. Softball shows some success.. coach is gone.
Lisa Love was less damaging to the program than Ray has been. Seriously, what sport is better now than when he took over?— E M (@maascowjr) June 7, 2022
Nice that even ASU softball has devolved to a stepping stone position for other schools under the current leadership.

This is a big loss for #ASU softball https://t.co/J5wLLttArV
