The Arizona Republic's Week 2 Top 10 high school baseball Players of the Week; vote in poll

In the second week of the Arizona high school baseball season, with everybody now playing, some big performances popped out, making it tough to whittle it down to a top 10. Here are The Arizona Republic's picks for the best standouts across the state in Week 2. You can vote for the top overall performer in our poll below.

Top 10 Baseball Players of the Week

1. Liam Wilson, Hamilton, 1B/C, Sr.

He went 6-for-10 with two home runs and five RBIs during the week for the two-time defending 6A champions.

2. Cam Caminiti, Saguaro, LHP/OF, Sr.

He was 5-for-8 at the plate, including two doubles, a triple and five RBIs. He worked four innings for the win at Bradshaw Mountain, striking out six, walking one, giving up three hits and no earned runs.

3. Cade Huseth, Veritas Prep, P, Jr.

He struck out 16 batters, walking two in a 1-0 win over Phoenix Country Day. He gave up only two hits, and got help from his batterymate, freshman Logan Cortes, who threw out three Eagles base runners. Huseth only faced 24 batters, going the distance.

4. Jacob Croxford, Liberty, OF, Sr.

He went 10-for-18 with four doubles, two triples, a home run and 10 RBIs with seven runs in the Best of the West Tournament.

5. Drew Heinze, Gilbert, P, Sr.

He got the save, working 5⅔ innings in relief, giving up one hit and no earned run in the win over Campo Verde.

6. Cade Shumard, Saguaro, LHP, Sr.

He pitched five innings to get the win against Barry Goldwater, striking out nine and giving up no earned runs and only two hits with no walks.

7. Jayden Barlet, Mica Mountain, P, Sr.

He did not give up an earned run in a 3-2 win over Thatcher in six innings. He walked none and struck out five, scattering four hits.

8. Jorge Roman, Chandler, P, Sr.

He pitched a complete, seven-inning game in a win, striking out 10 and giving up one run, walking three.

9. Jordan Touhey, Poston Butte, RHP, Sr.

In a 2-1 win over Casa Grande Vista Grande, he pitched the full seven innings, giving up one run, while striking out 11. He is committed to North Alabama.

10. Gunnar Penzkover, Northwest Christian, OF, Sr.

In a win over Odyssey, the Grand Canyon signee hit two home runs and had a triple on a perfect day at the plate.

Honorable mention

Sal Valenzuela, Nogales, P, Sr.

In a 3-2 win over Rio Rico, the University of Arizona commit worked 6⅔ innings, giving up three hits, one earned run, walking four and striking out 10.

Rafael Echeverria, Rio Rico, LHP, Jr.

In the loss to rival Nogales, he pitched six innings, giving up one earned run and four hits, striking out 12.

T.J. Stottlemyre, Notre Dame Prep, SS, Sr.

The Rice commit went 7-for-11 at the plate with no errors at shortstop on 15 chances during a 3-1 week.

Gerardo Gonzalez, Liberty, RHP, Sr.

In a complete-game win over Skyline, he struck out seven, giving up two hits, throwing a total of 55 pitches over seven innings.

Isacc Harris, Duncan, P/OF, Jr.

He went 4-for-8 with three doubles and four stolen bases. On the mound, he came on in relief, giving up no runs in 3 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and striking out six.

Cody Rollings, Estrella Foothills, RHP, Sr.

He made two appearances, picking up wins in both games, allowing only a .125 batting average against him, striking out five and walking three.

Noah Miller, Pusch Ridge, P, Jr.

He gave up three hits and no earned runs over six innings, striking out six and walking one in an 8-1 win over Walden Grove.

Noah Weiss, Pinnacle, RHP, So.

He pitched six innings a a complete-game win over Tolleson, giving up four hits and striking out five.
