The Arizona Republic's high school baseball rankings: Super 10 through 1A

Here are The Arizona Republic's high school baseball rankings as of April 22, 2024. Super 10 comprises the best of the best in the state, regardless of conference. The Arizona Interscholastic Association state playoff tournaments begin Saturday.

Super 10

1. Queen Creek Casteel Colts, 19-6

Led by pitcher Mason Russell and a potent offense, sparked by his twin brother Ryan, these guys have gotten hot at the right time, beating last week's No. 1 Hamilton in eight innings last week.

2. Phoenix Brophy Prep Broncos, 20-5

They beat Hamilton 4-3 last week for the first time since 2016 as Jack Ohman was clutch at the plate and Benton Hickman came up big in relief on the mound.

3. Chandler Hamilton Huskies, 20-6

Drew Rogers has 11 home runs, and Boston Kellner and Liam Wilson 10 each to lead the state in home runs.

4. Queen Creek Bulldogs, 19-7

This is a dangerous 6A team right now with a big win last week over Brophy.

5. Scottsdale Saguaro Sabercats, 22-3

Key to winning the 4A title is how coach Joe Muecke uses his Big 3 of pitchers Cam Caminiti, Cade Shumard and Billy Gregory.

6. Peoria Liberty Lions, 16-8

They've benefitted from playing a tough schedule late in the season. Pitcher Gerardo Martinez has been an automatic win on the mound.

7. Phoenix Sandra Day O'Connor Eagles, 19-7

This team keeps delivering just when you think they're out. They'll go deep in the 6A tourney.

8. Mesa Red Mountain Lions, 18-7

If you want a sleeper in the 6A tournament, take these guys. They're coming off a 6-5, eight-inning win over rival Mesa Mountain View.

9. Nogales Apaches, 15-8

That 8-0 win over Tucson Catalina Foothills last week let not only Southern Arizona but the rest of the state know they're coming after Casteel for the 5A crown.

10. Tucson Salpointe Catholic Lancers, 18-6-1

That 13-3 rout of Canyon del Oro last week let Saguaro know that there's more than one Tucson team in 4A that will be after them at state.
