Area senior standouts compete in 36th annual event held in Salem

SALEM — The Class AA girls and Class B boys won final games in the 36th 3-Class Shootout All-Star basketball games on Saturday.

The Class AA girls opened with an 89-85 win over the Class A girls and then posted an 82-76 win over the Class B girls.

The Class A boys downed the Class A boys 99-92 in the first boys' game. The Class B team then outscored Class A 117-113 in the final game.

Daniel Mitchell of Gregory won the dunk contest.

Class AA Girls 89, Class A Girls 85

O'Gorman players Mahli Abdouch and Lucy Moore each scored 19 points to lead the Class AA team. Jaidyn Dunn of Sioux Falls Jefferson added 13, and Jaylee Hofer of Harrisburg tallied 12.

Class A MVP Katie Vasecka scored 21 points to lead the Class A team. Claire Sheppard of Flandreau added 16, Caylin Kelly of Florence-Henry had 13 and Lily Klein of Flandreau chipped in with 11. Hannah Leverson of Sisseton contributed five.

Class AA Girls 82, Class B Girls 76

Abby Aslesen of Howard earned Class B MVP honors with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Skyler Volmer of Lyman contributed 14 points, Avery Orth of Wessington Springs 12 and Meagan Reiner of Tripp-Delmont-Armour 10. Harley Johnson of Arlington added six.

Moore scored 19 points to earn MVP honors for the Class AA squad. Claire Tereshinski of Yankton followed with 16, Abby Flanagan of Harrisburg had 11 and Dunn finished with 10.

Class A Boys 99, Class AA Boys 92

Lane Tietz of Groton Area produced 17 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists for the Class A team. Jaxson Wingert of Dakota Valley tallied 26 points, Tyson Stevenson of Hamlin 16, Matt Anderson of Canton 11, Jake Kuhl of West Central 10 and Maxwell Engebretson of Sioux Valley eight.

Naser Ismail of Sioux Falls Roosevelt led the Class AA boys with 19 points to earn MVP honors. Cam Phipps of Harrisburg notched 16 points and eight rebounds, Gavin Soukup of Mitchell 15 scored points and Braedon VanBockern of Harrisburg finished with 11. Watertown's Dylon Rawdon had two points, two assists and two steals.

Class B Boys 117, Class A Boys 113

Faith's Jackson Shauer poured in 32 points for the Class B team. He was named the squad's MVP. Kolt Koepsell of Howard collected 16 points and 10 rebounds. Tage Ortman of Canistota chipped in with 11 points, and Nicolas Marshall of White River, Aiden Lieber of Mitchell Christian and Layne Cotton of Faulkton Area each tallied 10.

Lane Tvedt of Castlewood (nine points) and George Jensen of De Smet (eight points and six rebounds) also played for the Class B team.

Class A MVP Tietz led his team with 22 points and nine rebounds. Wingert added 21 points, Stevenson 16, Anderson 13, Porter Ihnen of Lennox 13, Jack Erickson of Baltic 10 and Engebretson nine.
