Area roundup: Edward Little boys put up 87 points in win over Hampden

Jan. 7—BANGOR — Another big game by John Shea was backed up by strong outings from Landon Cougle and Hamza Sheikh in Edward Little's 87-60 boys basketball win over Hampden on Thursday.

Shea put up 36 points, while Cougle scored 19 and Sheikh contributed 14 for the Red Eddies, who improve to 7-1 with the victory.

Zach McLaughlin led the Broncos (0-9) with 22 points. J.J. Wolfington added 11, including three 3-pointers.

The Patriots (4-3) closed with a 26-11 advantage in the fourth quarter, hitting 10 of 14 free throws down the stretch, as they topped the Capers (4-4) at Gray.

Anthony Prescott powered Gray-New Gloucester with 22 points, including five buckets from behind the arc. Nate Hebert chipped in 15 points and Jay Hawkes added 10.

Will Bowe led Cape Elizabeth with 19 points, and Jake Frame scored 18.

Charlie Houghton poured in a game-high 28 points to lead the Cougars past the Rebels in Dixfield.

Nathaniel Wainwright added 16 and Trenton Hutchinson 15 for Dirigo.

Frankie Campra paced Telstar with 13 points.

The Greyhounds took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter, then finished the game on a 19-8 run to top the Roadrunners in an MVC tilt in Lisbon.

Levi Tibbetts scored eight of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter for Lisbon, While Mason Booker added 13 and Caden Boone 11.

Payton Mitchell led Mt. Abram with 20 points and Adam Luce scored 11.

Carter Galley led the Mariners (5-3) with 19 points in a KVAC win over the Hornets (7-2) in Turner.

Alex Bartlett scored 15 points and Alex Collins had 11 points for Oceanside.

Sawyer Hathaway paced Leavitt with 16 points. Hunter Hayes scored 12.

Zach New dropped in 16 points in the Falcons' (3-3) win over the Bucks (0-6) in Buckfield.

Airick Richard had 15 points for Mountain Valley and Will Gallant finished with 12 points.

Ayden Jefferson led Buckfield with 13 points and Gavin Charest chipped in 12.

Seven Phoenix (5-0) players scored nine or more points in a Mountain Valley Conference victory over the Wolverines (0-5) in Wiscasset.

Jace Bessey hit five 3-pointers and led all scorers with 20 points. Eli Timler added 16 points for Spruce Mountain, Ian York and Cam Phillips each scored 11, and Owen Bryant, Lucas Towers and Caleb Parlin scored nine apiece.

Jevar Garricks topped Wiscasset with 10 points.

The Eagles outscored the Cougars by 17 points in the second half to earn a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win in South China.

Emma Stred led Erskine (3-4) with nine points, 12 rebounds and three blocks, while Emily Clark added eight points and 11 rebounds. Mackenzie Roderick chipped in eight points.

Mt. Blue (2-6) was led by Eva Stevens' game-high 14 points.

O Bailey Breen scored 23 points to power the Mariners (8-0) past the Hornets (1-6) in Rockland.
