Area briefs: Basketball camps for kids planned at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. — The Ball State University men's basketball program will host two camps for youngsters in June.

A day camp, for boys and girls entering grades 2-8, will be held June 10-13. Hours for the camp each day will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Coast of that camp is $235.

A "Little Cardinals" camp, for boys and girls ages 4-8, will be held 9 a.m. to noon on June 14.

Cost of that camp is $50.

The camps will held at Ball State's Student Recreation and Wellness Center.

Meridian to provide services at Muncie Crisis Center

MUNCIE, Ind. — Meridian Health Services will provide staff and services at the Muncie Crisis Center, now under construction at Hoyt Avenue and Eighth Street.

The center will provide "mental health and addiction services" to those in need, according to a release issued Tuesday by Mayor Dan Ridenour's administration.

IU Health has been "an integral partner in planning and developing the center," the release stated.

“This will be a welcome resource to help address a community need in Muncie,” Mike Patrick, with Behavioral Health Services at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, said in the release. “We are excited to partner with both Meridian and Muncie to work together on this project.”

Seth Warren, president and CEO of Meridian Health Services, said, “We look forward to working with the city of Muncie and IU Health to help address the mental health needs in our community,”

The crisis center is expected to open this summer.

Intersection of Tillotson, Riverside to reopen

MUNCIE, Ind. — Indiana Michigan Power crews are completing underground power line construction that will allow the reopening of the intersection of Tillotson and Riverside avenues.

Starting Thursday, crews planned to start adjusting traffic patterns to re-open the intersection.

Tillotson Avenue will remain reduced to one lane in each direction between Riverside and Petty Road.

There will be no-turn restrictions at the intersection of Tillotson and Riverside.

Those road conditions are expected to continue through the month of May.
