Archbishop Wood's Jalil Bethea set to play in McDonald's All-American game Tuesday night
Archbishop Wood senior Jalil Bethea should get plenty of national exposure Tuesday night.
Bethea, a two-time Philadelphia Catholic League MVP and the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year, will play for the East in the McDonald's All-American Boys Basketball Game (9 p.m. on ESPN) in Houston. He is Wood's first McDonald's selection.
The 6-foot-4 Bethea, a University of Miami signee, will be joined by Duke-bound forward Cooper Flagg from Montverde (Florida) and other high-profile players on the East squad Tuesday against the West.
He won the Powerade Jam Fest Slam Dunk competition Monday in Houston by leaping over a pair of 7-footers and emphatically dunking.
Wood's all-time leading boys scorer, Bethea is No. 6 in ESPN's latest class of 2024 national rankings and projected as the No. 4 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by the network's Jonathan Givony.
