AP Top 25: Notre Dame moves to No. 5, Texas jumps into top 10

After losing for the first time in 2018, LSU, Oklahoma and Kentucky all fell in the Week 7 Associated Press Top 25 poll.

While the top four of Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Clemson remained the same, LSU, following its loss to Florida, dropped from No. 5 to No. 13 while Oklahoma fell three spots from No. 7 to No. 10 and Kentucky dropped from No. 13 to No. 18. Another notable fall came from Auburn, who went from No. 8 to No. 21 following its loss to Mississippi State.

Notre Dame moved up one spot to No. 5 after beating Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. The rest of the top 10 was rounded out by No. 6 West Virginia, No. 7 Washington, No. 8 Penn State, No. 9 Texas and No. 10 UCF.

Texas’ win over Oklahoma meant a 10-spot jump from No. 19 last week. Florida also had a sizable leap from No. 22 to No. 14.

Also of note: Cincinnati made its 2018 debut in the rankings after improving to 6-0 in its second season under Luke Fickell. It’s the first time the Bearcats have been ranked since 2012.
