Anthem tryouts this Sunday for Hagerstown Flying Boxcars' home games

Every baseball team needs a shortstop with good range.

But before the games can start, the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars also need some performers with range.

Tryouts for performing the national anthem at home games this season at Meritus Park will be held this Sunday in the Valley Mall's Food Court common area, according to an announcement from the mall's public relations outfit.

Registration will be on-site, with both registration and tryouts from 2-4:30 p.m.

Participants can sing or perform the anthem on an instrument.

Each person gets one audition.

There won't be any musical accompaniment provided for tryouts.

The only song that can be used at the tryouts is the anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Folks trying out should be comfortable performing in front of large crowds.
