Another Kentucky women’s basketball freshman enters the transfer portal
Kentucky’s entire women’s basketball freshman class is officially gone to the transfer portal.
Jordy Griggs confirmed Thursday night via social media that she will be transferring by tweeting a pair of eyes emojis above a graphic stating that she had entered the portal. The 6-foot-2 guard out of Montverde (Florida) Academy played in just four games with the Wildcats during her freshman campaign, averaging 0.8 points and 0.3 rebounds in 3.5 minutes per contest.
Griggs, who spent her freshman year adjusting to a new position, was the first player to announce her intention to enter the transfer portal since Kentucky’s hiring of former Virginia Tech head coach Kenny Brooks. Griggs’ announcement came just hours after 6-3 forward Amelia Hassett out of Northeast Florida State College flipped her commitment from Virginia Tech to Kentucky, and former Virginia Tech All-America point guard Georgia Amoore and freshman center Clara Strack each announced that they’d be following Brooks to Lexington.
UK’s starting point guard Brooklynn Miles issued a statement Friday morning that she’d be entering the portal, making her and Griggs the latest active Wildcats to publicly declare their intentions to transfer. Ajae Petty and freshman forward Janaé Walker each announced their decision to transfer in the days following Elzy’s firing on March 11. Former forward Zennia Thomas, who was dismissed from the team in January, also announced that she would be entering the portal in the week following Elzy’s firing.

Seniors Nyah Leveretter, Eniya Russell and Maddie Scherr are not listed on UK’s 2024-25 roster online, but have yet to issue public comment regarding their future plans. Graduate guard Emma King is the only player from the Wildcats’ 2023-24 roster who is technically unable to return for the 2024-25 season, as she exhausted her fifth and final season of eligibility granted by the NCAA following the COVID-19 pandemic.
