Anne McCoy elevated to interim athletic director

Mar. 28—Washington State University President Kirk Schulz announced Wednesday that senior deputy director of athletics Anne McCoy will serve as the school's interim athletic director after the departure of Pat Chun for the University of Washington.

"Anne is an outstanding administrator and a dyed-in-the-wool Coug," Schulz said in a news release. "With more than two decades of experience in the WSU athletics department, she is uniquely qualified to ensure that Cougar athletics continues to excel as we search for the university's next athletic director."

A Wisconsin native who earned her bachelor's degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts in 1989, McCoy has been with WSU since 2001. This will be her second stint as interim athletic director, a role she previously held in 2010 between the tenures of Jim Sterk and Bill Moos. She has overseen the operations of WSU's athletics department and worked as a sport supervisor for women's basketball, volleyball, soccer and rowing.

Schulz has initiated a national search to replace Chun,

McCoy will serve in the position until a permanent director is hired.
