Andrew Vorhees tries to do what Alijah Vera-Tucker and Austin Jackson did: Get that first-round $

USC offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees has opted out of the Trojans’ Cotton Bowl and declared for the 2023 NFL draft.

With Lincoln Riley announcing that Vorhees will not participate in the Cotton Bowl versus Tulane, he will finish this season with 735 total snaps played. Vorhees played 3,598 career snaps for the Trojans.

Vorhees logged starts at four spots (RG, LG, LT, and RT) in 55 career games for the Trojans and was named an All-American in his sixth year as a Trojans.

As previously mentioned, Vorhees played both guard and tackle spots at USC, but I think Vorhees projects to a guard at the next level.

His high motor and football IQ mixed with toughness, strong grip, powerful get-off, and good mobility to hit open-field targets are what offensive line coaches look for on the interior.

Voorhees is projected to play in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, and is also projected as a lock to be a top-100 pick.

The question becomes: Can Voorhees land in the first round? Austin Jackson and Alijah Vera-Tucker did in recent years, giving USC its most recent first-round draft picks. Vorhees wants to follow in the footsteps of those decorated linemen, but he has to get healthy and show he can be a sturdy presence before draft time.

The 2023 NFL draft is set to take place from Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29 in Kansas City, Missouri. The event will be held at the plaza just outside of Union Station.
