American Family Field will get a nice sprucing up prior to the Milwaukee Brewers' 2024 season.

The Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District announced the replacement of the ballpark's main scoreboard last year, but the Brewers issued a rendering and other new additions to the ballpark on Tuesday.

The team is negotiating a new lease on the stadium that will extend through 2050 after Gov. Tony Evers signed legislation in December that will commit $500 million in public funding for long-term renovations and improvements.

But in the short-term, American Family Field will have two new scoreboards and LED digital displays behind home plate beginning this year.

The downtown food hall and event venue — 3rd Street Market Hall — will open an annex in the right field loge level. Four local vendors will be featured: Kompali Tacos, Smokin' Jack's BBQ, Kawa (Asian fusion), and Anytime Arepa (Venezuelan).

The Brewers said the space has also been redesigned and reconfigured as a gathering spot to welcome fans with a gaming area.

“We are continually looking for ways to create the best experience for our fans," said Rick Schlesinger, Brewers president of business operations. "With the addition of the 3rd Street Market Hall Annex to American Family Field, fans will be able to enjoy local vendors with the atmosphere of the popular Milwaukee food hall location."

The Brewers' team store in left field is also getting an upgrade, the Milwaukee club said.

Details on the scoreboards

The Brewers partnered with ANC, a digital signage and visual display company, to enhance existing digital and static stadium signage.

The new 8mm LED digital display overlooking center field measures 12,077 square feet. It will be among the largest scoreboards in Major League Baseball, according to the Brewers, and is more than double the size of the old display at 5,940 square feet.

The Brewers are also adding a scoreboard in right field above the bleachers. This screen is also an 8mm LED digital display measuring 2,840 square feet.

“With the advancements in technology since we last installed a new board, the new displays are a game-changer,” Schlesinger said. “The boards will offer greater visibility from all areas of American Family Field, significantly better picture quality and facilitate enhanced in-game content.”

Opening Day is March 28. The Brewers begin the season on the road against the New York Mets for a four-game series. The Brewers' home opener at American Family Field is April 2 against the Minnesota Twins.
