It's almost playoff time. The latest in Gardner area high school boys and girls lacrosse

Take a look at the latest updates on Gardner-area lacrosse teams. With a range of records and success, some are in good shape going into postseason while others are looking to finish strong.

Oakmont boys lacrosse

Oakmont is in first in the Mid-Wach B league with a record of 10-5 and one more game remaining in the regular season. The Spartans started the season off very strong with five wins before they began to see some tougher games. They are currently ranked at No. 24 in the Div. 4 power rankings.

Oakmont lacrosse plays a tough schedule to challenge the team and prepare for the bigger games down the line looking into postseason. The Spartans fell to Division 1 Wachusett and recent state champion Wahconah.

Nahuel Suarez is Oakmont's top scorer with 31 goals and 2 assists. Quin Buckley is not far behind with 30 total points – split between his 13 goals and 17 assists. Tyler Nally lands ninth in the top goaltending in Central Mass. with a 6.91 goals against average.

Monty Tech boys lacrosse

The Monty Tech boys lacrosse team has finished up its regular season with a record of 7-6. As of the latest MIAA power rankings, the Bulldogs were at number 45, but finishing above .500 would earn them a tournament bid.

The team finished out the season with four straight wins followed by a tough loss against powerhouse St. Bernard's. Colin Allain was one of the top scorers for Monty Tech – he scored ten goals between two games in the final week of the season. Ryan Quinn and Hunter Couture were other top contributors.

Oakmont girls lacrosse

After starting 4-4, Oakmont has hit a rough patch, dropping six consecutive games to fall to 4-10.

With two games left, they have the opportunity to finish strong. The latest power ranking has Oakmont at 21 in Div. 4 which would qualify them for the playoffs. But with a week still left of the season it is still up in the air where they will land.

Meg Heffernan and Julia Laprade have been consistent for the Spartans, even in their losses.

Monty Tech girls lacrosse

The Bulldogs have struggled this season and currently stand with a record of 3-7. They earned wins against Assabet (twice) and Bay Path, both fellow vocational and technical schools.

They still have a handful of chances to grab some wins in the end of the season, facing Fitchburg and Bay Path again, to close out.

Bailey Mulrenan, a senior leader on the team, has been one of the main scorers for Monty Tech.
