Report: Hudson White latest Texas Tech baseball player in transfer portal

Former freshman all-American Hudson White appears to be moving on from the Texas Tech baseball team.

White, an all-Big 12 honorable mention selection, entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report Friday by D1Baseball.

The Trophy Club Byron Nelson graduate started 44 games for the Red Raiders this past season, hitting .296 with 10 doubles and 11 home runs. He tallied 49 RBI and scored 39 runs.

White was the 2022 Big 12 Freshman of the Year. Listed as a catcher and infielder, he had a .983 career fielding percentage with 85 assists and 844 put-outs.

The news comes two days after outfielder Dillon Carter and pitcher Brendan Girton reportedly entered the transfer portal. Tech's season ended Monday in a loss to host Florida in the Gainesville Regional.

Volleyball

Alisa Blair, previously the head coach at Abilene Christian in 2022, was announced Friday as associate head coach for the Texas Tech volleyball program. The Red Raiders also elevated former standout Tatum Rohme from volunteer assistant to assistant coach the same day.

"I've known Alisa for a long time and have great respect for her as a person, coach and recruiter," Tech head coach Tony Graystone said in a statement. "Her career path has clearly prepared her for the Big 12, and I'm looking forward to her impact on our program."

Blair spent three seasons as head coach at Hill College, where she went 83-38.

Prior to ACU, Blair served as assistant coach and lead recruiter at Stephen F. Austin for four seasons. The Ladyjacks went 105-21 during that time, winning four Southland Conference regular-season titles and making the NCAA Tournament twice.

Blair was an outside hitter and defensive specialist at Angelo State from 2009-12. She helped the Belles win the Lone Star Conference title in 2012, a feat that hadn't been accomplished in 20 years.

Rohme also succeeded on the court.

Rohme was a setter and outside hitter for Texas Tech from 2019-21. She racked up more than 500 career assists, 72 digs and 21 total blocks in 29 matches played. Her 9.71 assists per set is sixth-best in program history.

Rohme previously coached the middle school team at Kingdom Prep. She also spent time leading Lubbock's Flatland volleyball club.

Golf

Former Tech golfer Ludvig Aberg fired an even-par 72 in the second round of the RBC Canadian Open on Friday at Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto.

Aberg birded four holes, but matched that number on bogeys. The outing followed a 3-under 69 on the opening day. His 3-under total put him in a tie for 31st late Friday, just before the final golfers wrapped up.

It is Aberg's first tournament since earning a PGA Tour card. He was named men's golf Big 12 Player of the Year on Thursday.
