Alabama's Nick Dunlap makes largest jump in world golf rankings history after PGA Tour win
With his victory on Sunday at The American Express golf tournament, Nick Dunlap managed to accomplish something that hadn’t been done in 33 years.
The following day, he made even more history.

Following his win over the weekend, the Alabama sophomore golfer rose 4,061 spots in the Official World Golf Ranking, from No. 4,129 all the way up to No. 68. It marks the largest jump in the history of the rankings.

Dunlap became the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event since 1991, back when future golf superstar Phil Mickelson won the Northern Telecom Open in Tucson, Arizona. The Huntsville native also became the youngest amateur to win a PGA Tour event since 1910.
The 20-year-old Dunlap’s ranking now puts him ahead of several well-known, more experienced American golfers such as Billy Horschel (No. 71), Patrick Reed (No. 87) and Mickelson (No. 127).
