Aggies Women’s Golf wins SEC title after a close playoff

After an eight-year hiatus, the Women’s Aggie Golf team beat No. 5 Mississippi State 3-2 winning the SEC Championship. The title was in the hands of Zoe Slaughter after Janthamunee from Mississippi State was able to tie things up on the 17th hole setting up a playoff.

Slaughter was able to sink a putt in the first playoff, but they would need to have another one to hopefully determine the champion. She saw her opportunity to take the match when Janthamunee bogied on after hitting into the bunker on the 16th hole. After Slaughter’s first shot hit the green, she only needed two putts the win the playoff and capture the SEC title for Texas A&M.

Hailee Cooper and Jennie Park also won their matches putting the team in a position to close it out with one more win that Zoe Slaughter was able to deliver.

The Aggies will await their regional assignment which will be determined on April 26 on the NCAA Women’s Golf Selection show at noon on the Golf Channel.
